The original is one of my favourite movies of all time. The atmosphere is so creepy and unsettling in a way that's hard to articulate.

I love Picnic at Hanging Rock. I finally watched it a few months ago and I can't believe I didn't watch it sooner. It's just what I love in a story.

ONTD, What do you think happened to the characters who disappeared at Hanging Rock?

when i first saw the film as a young teenager i thought it was aliens.gif

now i've read more about the story, about the missing chapter of the novel, and about the author in general, i think it was ~indigenous spirits~ putting them in a time warp

I like to think that they disappeared like they do in fairy tales -- just danced off into fairyland never to return. I'm also reminded of the pied piper of Hamelin, how the one kid got left behind because he was crippled and couldn't keep up, and how he wanted so much to join them into the mountain. Fairy tales are so tragic and eerie, damn.

You have to see it! My first reaction to this was negative but I will watch Natalie Dormer in anything. Hopefully it’s good on its own and just uses the book as inspiration. That’s how I liked the film version of Under The Skin cuz it did it’s own thing instead of ruining the story (tho it was an inferior story)
