i mean normally I'd agree but he's proven his worth as a creative showrunner a few times over at this point. It's not like his work is shitty and mediocre, he's just terrible at compromising over budgets.

Yeah, and his shows always get critical acclaim. So, on paper, he looks good, but his track record with follow-through is all but absent.

yea and I'd prob move on too if I was brought in to world build and do all kinds of visual ground setting and series plotting, deliver the first season/episode and then be told "yea this is great but I need you to do all this but for half the budget!"

like what did they hire him for initially cuz it's never been for his ability to work on a tight budget.

I can see Apple being a real pain in the ass when it comes to a creative process

Both tbh? Like the studios KNOW what he's like, and give him everything he wants to craft his vision, then second season rolls around and they're like "nah now do it on half the budget" which just isn't feasible.

It's a known thing he won't compromise on his creative vision and auteurship, and will do it his way or not at all. So could he do with negotiating more? Yes for sure. But also they hire him knowing what he'll cost, and knowing that he won't budge on expenditure, and knowing that they won't intend to keep funding that. So takes two to tango.

Can't believe people are still hiring him based on his track record; his shows are either prematurely canceled, or he leaves them after a season. In this case... before it even airs!

Justice for Wonderfalls & Dead Like Me. I loved those shows and wished they'd lasted much longer. Although he likely would have left them too had he been given the chance lol

You're right. I love that the show has a good beginning, middle, and end. It likely would have gone to shit (or Bryan would have left lmao) had it kept going.

Love Jaye! I love that's she's super intelligent yet genuinely uninterested in work.. or anything much really, lmao. And I had a gay crush on her love interest on the show (Eric).

edit: the Dead Like Me movie was terrible :(

jaye is a great character and caroline dhavernas is so good in the role. i was disappointed with how hannibal basically gave her nothing to do as alana except cry about will and be seduced by hannibal for most of its run.

it really was bad lol. and idt most of the actors would be interested in returning.
