When I think of the country I actually enjoy (and I hate to sound all get off my lawn at 27) and grew up with my dad listening to it actually had a message that wasn't bland and predictable. Lately I've been revisiting my love for The Highwaymen.

Nope. They're cowards. To me the country artists I do enjoy were the ones who weren't afraid to criticize the genre. Even funnier when artists we shall not name who are now so far removed from country still get invites and awards.
