i read somewhere that all they do in the book is the story in episode 3.

This is pretty unreliable as a source, but both actors are credited for multiple episodes this season. I just hope that doesn't mean they are fast-tracking what occurs in the book down the line. I really, really hope they decide to change that bit.

Yea, Hannibal was good, but it was too much horror for my taste. This one is that scary too?

no. way less gory and thrillery. but the visuals and the tone are pretty much the same.... with a bigger budget.
