Well Shadow is not an emotional character to begin with, but in the scenes when he's in his and his wife's house it's clear he's upset but holding it in
It's a bit tough, because even in the books, Shadow is known for his stoicism...and that doesn't really play off well on screen without the internal dialogue of a book. Still, tonight he did have a bit of an emotional moment during one scene. I do think they'll have him show a bit more as the show progresses, because I think that's been a common thing for some of the audience in regards to his character.
I always feel super biased replying to these, especially when I'm making the posts, but as a fan of the book I'm enjoying the show a lot =) Helps that the casting is seriously fantastic! I'm also just looking forward to any changes that Gaiman, Fuller, and Green have planned as surprises for book readers down the line.
I'd say if you enjoy Gaiman's original novel and Fuller's work on Hannibal, give the pilot a go just to see what type of combination that would result in!
Ah! If you have STARZ you can access the episode on their site/app =) or if you're outside of the US and have Amazon Prime, can catch the latest ep the following day :

my boyfriend was NHFT he was like WHAT THE FUCK and i was like to be fair the amount of naked women on every other show doesn't make me have a whole lotta sympathy for you lol
I gotta watch the first two eps but I'm excited for next week because Salim and the Jinn are gonna be in it and they were my fave part of the book. Amazing what a difference it makes when the book shifts to a POV character who actually emotes. 👀👀 (this is just a stab at the book btw, no hate to the show or Ricky but Shadow himself was boring af.)
Hope you catch up in time! That part of the story definitely has me anxious to see how they'll handle it =) Hehe all the hype surrounding the sex-scene has got me stoked =P but yeah I also just really loved Salim's entire backstory...IIRC they said that Omid will be recurring and at least showing up in S2, so I hope they plan to expand his character as well somehow (and not just to show us what happens to him later in the book).
Yeah =\ seriously. [Spoiler (click to open)]I didn't get into much discussion about it until a few years after, but I was devastated by some discussion suggesting that the Jinn set Salim up, somehow with letting him take over his identity...ugh, but yeah that part of the book was so disappointing, especially it being a throw-away bit of sorts.
