Meh this is probably my least favorite era of hers next to Maya. She obviously peaked with her first 2 albums and Matagi was kind of a nice return to form.
She was a headliner at Afropunk which is a black music fest created originally to celebrate black punk music, rock etc when there could have just been a black artist headlining, instead of understanding why people were upset with this choice M.I.A. started to make it about refugees saying people were telling her to stay in her lane when they simply wanted a black british artist to headline, in a space created FOR black people by black people. She got in her feelings and started making it about herself and her people how she was being silenced.
