I think part of their ability to stay consistently good is the lack of character development, because they never learn from their mistakes, they get to keep making them!

Definitely and I love that. They never learn their lesson so they just keep making the same mistakes over and over and over.

I thought the latest Sunny episode was pretty funny. So far I'd say this season has been better than the last couple tbh (with the waterpark ep being a clear standout thus far).

These characters are assholes and they're portrayed as such, the show itself is not.

There was a transgender character named Carmen in earlier seasons. She had and on/off thing with Mac and he had conflict with the fact she was transgender. It WAS played for laughs and they DID refer to the character as "the tranny". But this was in the mid-2000s when a lot of people still thought that word was okay. She hasn't really featured much in the past few seasons. The character got married and Dee was their surrogate. I'm guessing they've probably realized it's best to quietly retire that character.

yes and no... the show walks a fine line because it's satirical so while the gang are all bigots, it's usually framed in such a way that their bigotry is the butt of the joke. they occasionally miss the mark and i would say their treatment of the show's trans character is an example of that. the gang refers to her by the t-slur (altho i doubt they would now, they say the r-slur in earlier seasons and eventually stop) and say transphobic things about her and treat it as "gross" that one of the male characters wants to date her

lol. love both these shows, but like i said before, i'm sad sunny has gone downhill.
