A+++ post, OP!

lots of really good movies here. my favorites are The Thing <3, Sunshine & Children of Men.

and since i'm on a norwegian roll, i'm really curious about The Wave now - especially since you included it in the 'good ones' list despite the hot mess potential the plot alone suggests.

i tried to look for mostly positively ~received films. the stuff under the questionable categories tend to have mixed to bad reviews, but all worth watching if you're bored and want dumb entertainment!

the fight sequence with the big buff guy (and the drum beating?) was probably the best part of the movie

I watched Deepwater Horizon last night and was surprised that I ended up liking it. Really sad though :\

I will never get over the dialogue in the Happening lmao my god

I had the list of people who died on my phone while watching it so I wouldn't get as attached.

i should've done that, but i'm actually surprised that there weren't more deaths? all i know about the deepwater horizon is the environmental effects it had tbh

LMAO the gif for the Happening! I used to love natural disaster movies as a kid. I saw both Dante's Peak and Volcano and was so horrified yet delighted at the melting people scenes. The boiled mean grandma in acid and that hero dude on the train melting like a candle is forever burned in my memory.

I love Children of Men and Sunshine so much. I actually saw CoM semi-recently and noticed a lot of parallels with what's going on in our world now. We're living in some scary times too.

That scene on the subway where the city worker is saving a guy and his shoes are melting. Then HE falls in but saves the guy...Worst. Fucking. Nightmare. I literally had those dreams when I was little.

It is an INSANE death scene! So over the top and horrifying. I was so scared of melting as a kid.
