I enjoy YOI but the fandom is so tiring. They do the most with the least. I'm mostly just happy MAPPA finally produced a commercial success. Waiting for Shingeki no Bahamut S2.

Yeah, same tbh. And I find the protagonists quite overrated, the supporting cast is far more interesting imo.

But I still appreciate what they're trying to do with the LGBT portrayal and the animation is pretty beautiful :)

Me too, like I definitely get that only so much can be done with twelve episodes and keeping the focus on skating, and I'm glad it hasn't become too melodramatic, but I'm just not sold on Yuuri and Viktor as characters or as a couple. I really love Yurio though.
Yeah the whole staff behind it are why I can't help but root for the show. Everyone is sincere and thorough in what they bring to the anime. It's just a project that I can feel is bursting with creativity and love. I can't fault them for that.

I also adore Yuri so much, I was so proud of him last episode seeing him skate so beautifully and breaking Victor's record ♥ And I love Otabek and JJ and Phichit and I wish they were explored a lot more but yeah, there's not a lot of time with just 12 eps :(

Yes, same!! I enjoy seeing how beautiful and well researched it is and how everyone involved truly cares about it, that's one of the reasons why I stuck with it even if the main storyline just didn't do it for me.

i've been pleasantly surprised by yoi because i really thought it was going to be queer/fujoshi bait, but part of me is still like "is this a trick???" anyway haha

Same, lol. I thought it would be just fan service subtext like most sports anime.

same, that's why I ignored it for so long, but now I'm just like "please don't let me down like I always am. No holding hands in front of a glowing portal to the Winter Olympics."

lmao yeah the fact that they haven't explicitly defined their relationship makes me concerned that the in the final episode they'll be like "thanks for the matching friendship ring, bro"

It's a gay sports anime that delivers, if that at all interests you get on it.

Episodes are so short, it's worth a shot. It's fun and if you don't like it enough you'll know fairly quickly before you've invested a lot of time
