I'm still sad that he's gone. :(

But that "it was I, fam" thread will always cheer me up. That post was a wide range of emotions.

Fuck's sake. I'm trying not to laugh out loud in this very quiet room but the joke is just too good.

Sometimes my brain still can't quite process that he's gone.

I've been on such a Harry Potter kick lately. They come and go.

I miss Alan so much :( it seems like he was such a great figure to look up to for all the kids in the films.

im rereading the HP novels right now and Rickman was just such a good Snape. I look back now on the movies and am so critical of the way they were done. They're so, so supbar compared the books. I always wish there was like an HBO-quality show of the books with 1 season per book (particularly the later bigger ones).

But one thing the movies majorly had going for them was the excellence of the british cast aside from the kids: alan rickman, emma thompson, maggie smith, gary oldman, fiennes, timothy spall, HBC, the list goes on. I guess one day those roles would be taken up by people we've seen in GOT/skins/misfits/etc now.

I cannot say just how thankful I am that the kids managed to grow up relatively normal despite working in the biggest movie franchise of that decade.

Like ik the movies messed up a lot but they seem to have done ok by the kids, which is really something considering the horror stories other Hollywood child actors have been through. Other than Seamus blowing all his money on shit that is.

yeah you're so right, it seems like it was a really positive environment. so much of their young lives was spent doing those movies and it's nice that it seems like it was a good/safe space.

mte, as a fan I'm selfishly grateful that the thing I love didn't ruin these children's lives.

They still had a lot to deal with, but JKR really did everyone the biggest favour when she demanded the films be UK-based. It kept the kids away from the worst of Hollywood and even the studio helped by giving the kids really minimal US promo work esp in the early years. They never did even an award season circuit for HP, other than BAFTAs.

I still can't believe it. Even now I'll see one of his movies is on or a trailer for one, and for a moment I completely forget. Then after that moment of realization I get sad all over again.
