The good news is that it can't possibly be worse than the last one.

I mean…since Pegg is one of the screenwriters and Idris & John are in it I'll probably see it but nothing about this trailer is making me excited (and I actually liked the mess that was STID).

I'm not feeling it yet. I guess I'm just missing Nimoy. :(

I guess I'm vaguely looking forward to it?

Also I love that woman's voice.

Huh, for movies that take place in settings that are full of diverse extraterrestrial life, Star Wars and Star Trek kind of shaft aliens to serve as mostly background scenery, or if they do have more prominent roles, their design is very humanoid, so they don't feel particularly "alien."

Well, at least there's slightly more of an attempt here than just painting a chick green.

Shohreh Aghdashloo! Yeah made me smile to hear her voice in the trailer.

yeah, it seems like this movie is more about the exploration part of Starfleet's mission--and sometimes, you get your ass kicked while exploring.

I just read an EXCELLENT Wired profile of the director/co writer (??) of this, Justin Lin, and that gave me a lot of faith in the movie, he sounds incredible and I've enjoyed most of his filmography without even realizing it. He directed the Modern Warfare (paintball) episode of Community which is so random! That said he also sounds like a super cool guy and I'm really interested to see his take on Star Trek, it sounds like he actually loves the source material which is nice to see.

Modern Warfare is one of my favourite episodes; we can easily say *the favourite* of season 1. One of the rare episodes that I know the name of the director, and I smile whenever I stumble upon Justin Lin's name <3

I want a lot of good things for Justin Lin, I think he's done so much for POC visibility in Hollywood.
