Well I actually have to agree with you on both. The flashbacks made him more interesting (I still enjoyed the break from seeing him) and Ethan's story is kinda meh.

I absolutely adore the relationship between Vanessa and her shrink so far though. Great icon

the scenes between Vannessa & Dr. Seward are my fav thing this season, she is exactly what Vanessa needed (though imo she also would do better with some actual female friends), I'm curious abt the Lyle & Seward connection, too

This might be a dumb question, but I've always wondered, why the series is named Penny Dreadful. Was it explained in the show? Or is penny dreadful a us-american popculture thing?

because it's (its victorian setting, characters and supernatural elements) based on those little pulp fiction books, a lot of these characters first appeared in penny dreadfuls

Lol <3 It took me eighty-four years to quit GoT and TWD (which are worse than PD to me) so I can never judge anyone for coming back to shows when they feel they shouldn't.

I forced myself to catch up after ep2 came out because there are some unique aspects to this show that I really love and can't find anywhere else. But all the problematic shit makes me reconsider my life and choices during the worse storylines lol.
