KTLA Meteorologist Liberté Chan Told to Cover Up On Air

Ummm @KTLA just told this woman to put on a sweater LIVE ON AIR bc they "are getting a lot of emails". 😳😳😳 #icant pic.twitter.com/8YCIu4PFJ7

Meteorologist Liberté Chan did the weather this morning, wearing a cute dress which seemed okay for the broadcast...that is, until the show began to get online complaints. Instead of having her change during a commercial or standing by their employee like awesome shows would, KTLA anchors decide to interrupt her broadcast to make her cover up. Then it got worse.

Even if it's early in the AM, can't beat a black beaded dress @KTLAMorningNews @AidanMattox @PistolandStamen pic.twitter.com/HYy1KUMYH1

In case the video doesn't show, watch here.

A viewer recap:

They made her put on a grey cardigan sweater - ON AIR. After they told her nobody likes her dress - ON AIR @KTLA pic.twitter.com/w5HCiKPxvO

I seriously can't believe what I just saw happen on air. They said they'd been getting emails from viewers who hated the dress.

In the middle of a weather report they handed her a cardigan sweater and told her to put it on. She didn't know what to say.

She handled it well. She was at a loss for words. She put on the sweater & mentioned another dress that didn't fit. Then she moved on. @KTLA

They're trying to make things right, but it's only getting worse. She's about to cry as she holds up another dress pic.twitter.com/xjIHUo9gtD
- Heather Poole (@Heather_Poole) May 14, 2016

Then she apologized for wearing the dress! She apologized for making viewers upset. Oh my God this hurts to watch. @KTLA
- Heather Poole (@Heather_Poole) May 14, 2016

Now they're trying to brush it off by saying something about opening the lines of communication and comparing it to a therapy session @KTLA
- Heather Poole (@Heather_Poole) May 14, 2016

@Heather_Poole The "lines of communication" should include sexism and a hostile work environment. Pathetic news production, @KTLA

In the history of news, has a man been asked to change clothes - ON AIR - because viewers were unhappy with what he was wearing? @KTLA
- Heather Poole (@Heather_Poole) May 14, 2016

Now it's more than a dress. @KTLA @libertechan https://t.co/3w41aBhGsB

Liberté has explained that the dress "keyed out," as well as accepted compliments for the dress.

Ahahahaha. Thank you! 👗 https://t.co/FofGnWoIyn
