What year is it again? How can people have never heard of what a hijab is in this day and age

A lot of people don't know about the rules that come with religious head coverings. That person was removed for what they asked her to do, so now they know.

I work with several people from various countries, and I am constantly having to explain basic customs to the American employees.

What kind of ID badge you need to remove a hijab for? What kind of Neanderthal offers the wrong ID badge? WHY IS THIS STILL HAPPENING

I used to volunteer at sxsw. Most of the people in charge of day to day interactions are volunteers and are new to the festival.
The person who spoke with her was probably a inexperienced idiot who decided to lump her in with the "no hats or face coverings in id pictures."

Hey, Merlin!

You have to get a photo taken to get an ID badge (made)? Whot.

Everyone has a photo on their badge. There are all kinds of rules like no pets, no facial obstructions, and other things I've forgotten. Usually though I had to retake my picture when I arrived to pick up my volunteer badge because whatever I uploaded was deemed unusable. It's to stop people from sharing badges.

This just makes it worse that she was given the wrong badge. But it was probably a runner coming from the badge printing and storage space who got confused about who the badge was supposed to go to and picked a brown person at random.

there is literally no reason to ask someone to take off a hijab at a fucking conference/festival/etc, I've never been to SXSW but am I wrong in thinking that you literally go to a table, say your name, take the badge and leave

this person obviously did this on purpose, singled her out and had some fucked up intent to embarrass or humiliate her b/c there's literally no rational reason to ask someone to remove ANYTHING, this isn't the damn DMV or a passport photo, it's check-in for a SXSW badge, wtf is wrong with that asshole

Isn't Tamir Muhammad a man? How do you get them confused? Mess all around. At least it seems like it was just one dumb employee.
