This solution is definitely not within HP's engineering advisories, but hell, I will give it a shot. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I gave it a shot, but alas...nope. I actually got to chat with one of the engineers who designed the thing and turns out 2002-2006 HP Notebooks had a problem with the twisted video signal cable wires getting frayed and breaking around the hinges. And in their infinite wisdom that wire was micro soldered to the LCD itself. Its a sad, sad engineering blunder.
