Chapter 7

Who am I?

“Hai?” I looked at her confused, she returned it. “I‘m sorry, I think you‘ve got the wrong person.” She said. I let go of her hand as she pulled it away. “B-but, it‘s me. Jun.” I managed to say. She shook her head. “Listen, I‘m.. umm.. Not familiar with anyone by the name of Jun. So… if you‘ll excuse me..” She replied. After she had bowed , she left. Then I asked my self.

Who am I?

Who are you?

Have I ever existed in you?

“Who are you?”

Who are you?

I again watched her walked away from me. Just.Like.That.She.Disappeared.Again. “Jun?” I heard Ohno called me. But his voice just dissolved in my very screwed mind. I couldn’t think straight. Only the same questions are repeating in my head.

Who are you?

After Ohno sent me home, here I am, sitting at the corner of my living room wall , staring out the window in the dark. The living room was only illuminated with the sparkling light of the Tokyo streets. I was in thought, a very deep thought. So, so deep. I closed my eyes and slowly drifting away to somewhere quieter… lonelier… peaceful… it felt like heaven in hell.

The three words she said to me. The first three words after so long, brought tears to me. Not because of tears of joy in finally spoken to her. Or tears of happiness to be able to see her, but, tears of the words she said to me which had hurt. Every word she said pierced through my heart deeply, it felt like my heart was oozing with blood with her every word.

That couldn’t have been her. She would have known me. I wasn’t even wearing any disguise when I pulled her. Even so, she didn’t scream my name like how my fans would , when they see me. It was just a simple reply - “Who are you?” Simple and very painful… very…very painful. What was it about that girl was different?

Her.. Aura.

Her.. Way of talking

Her palm…it wasn’t as soft as it used to be…

Her.. Presence…

Everything about her was different compared to Yuuka, but at the same time, it felt like 100% Yuuka. I pulled of the ring I had been wearing since our special promise and placed it aside. I stared at it. And thought.. And thought.. What that even her?

I went to work like usual the next day, again it was Ohno who asked me if I was alright. I nodded silently. I still couldn’t get a few things of my mind, I was distracted from work the whole day. “It killed you didn’t it?” Ohno said as he sat next to me. “What?” I looked at him with confusion. “What that girl said. I thought about it. It could have killed me.” He said calmly. His eyes, there it was. That deep thought in his eyes.

“Yes. It hurt. But it wont hurt because that wasn‘t her.” I said. “So da ne?” Ohno said with a smile. I wonder, i always do, what Is it that Ohno thinks of or what is it that he knows that I don’t. What’s playing in his mind. What is it that I don’t know? He took his phone out. He just stared at it as it vibrated. “Ohno, you got a call..” I said, looking at him, still confused.

“I know.” He said. The kept on looking at it. Even after 5 rings. After the 6th call, a smile pursed on his lips, “I‘ll be answering this call now, please excuse me.” I nodded as Ohno made his way out of the studio. Really, i don’t understand him. After he left, I cleaned up and left the building.

I started my car and was ready to go back home.

Beep.Beep.Beep.

I received a text from Ohno. I read it.

Jun, meet me in front of Yuuka’s old house. I have something to discuss.

I wonder what is it about… without hesitation, I drove to her house. As I got off my car, I started running to her house. I didn’t know why, but my heart was racing. I saw a figure sitting at the bench where me and Ohno sat the other day. I was at a complete stop when I reached at the bench. I swallowed. It was her, she was sitting on the bench as if waiting for someone.

I looked around, where was Ohno? That girl-who resembled Yuuka noticed I was there, staring. I immediately looked away. She stood up and turned to me. I looked at her, I swear, our eyes met for a while there.

“Matsumoto Jun. Am I right?” She asked slowly.
