Chapter 2

She was always gripping on to me. Her small hands in mine. “Your hands are so wide!” She used to always say, as we hold hands and walked in this park. Making a big circle when we walked on the empty field. The breeze always made her smile as wide as possible. That sweet smile just kept me alive.

It had always been, the kids from the neighborhood would be teasing us about our relationship when we walked around the park. It was that kind of small happiness that made me miss every second I had with her. Those kids would always play kites under this strong breeze this field always bring. And she would always play along with them. Running around with a kite in her hand. As I watched her play under a tree.

“Join us Jun!”

“Nah, I‘ll pass! I prefer sitting under this tree.”

“You‘re like an old man!”

“What did you say?”

“Nothing!”

She would tease me and ran off, making me run and chase after her. And when I caught her, we would both fall on the soft grass and laugh our heart out. As I complained bout my aching butt she would tease. Oh god, bring me back to that happiness we once had.

We would lie on the ground for hours. Her small hands in mine. We would also just stay there for hours without talking and eventually fall asleep in the end. And when it gets dark, our parents would walk around the neighborhood and chase us home. We would obviously run off to a safer place. Where we both could be alone.

We would come back later in midnight, as we sneak through the windows of our homes and wish each other good night. We slept with happy dreams. Hoping to see each other once again. I wish for that kind of happiness to come back. Just this once. I shouldn’t had to agree when she left.

I wouldn’t have to hear those words…

“Sayonara, Jun-Kun…”

If I’d stopped her, I wouldn’t have heard it. She might still be here. With me. I let her go because I know the promise we made will keep us alive. But, I’m losing hope.

Does she still remember the promise we made?

I know she does. I trust her.
