[Tatsunosuke has been doing everything he can in Houses 40 and 50, especially since Ayumu had come back so injured from the draft. It's not always easy work, but he enjoys it on a certain level--it's better to do that than just sit around, after all. So he's smiling when he comes back from the grocery store, his arms full of food for that night's

Several very complicated seconds follow, seconds that end with several cookies scattered around and Giles sitting on the ground, trying to protect the rest from the Chocobo. Tammy, for her part, is taking the opportunity to chew happily on his hair.]

Finally! Sir, I'm so sorry for any damage that this creature has caused. [Which is plenty, given the cookies scattered on the ground. With one hand on the back of Tammy's neck, Tatsunosuke bows low.] Please forgive us both.

No harm done. [Then he notices the cookies scattered around, and sighs tiredly.] No irrevocable harm done. [He straightens up, and even makes to pat Tammy on the head.]
...troublesome bird. You're both forgiven. Well, you're forgiven. Tammy once again has my heartfelt wishes for her safety.

[Tammy jerks forward again, but Tatsu grabs her quickly. Now that he's actually gotten hold of her, it isn't so bad. Not unlike corralling a certain younger brother.] Once again? So this isn't the first time you've met her, is it?
[...Again. Not unlike a certain younger brother.]

Toudou-san. Would you be the one to know just how the latch was broken [or left open] in the first place? Not because I'm curious, but someone is going to have to explain things to Hijikata-san and the rest.
Reply
Aaaas for explainin' to Hijikata-san? Let's just say me or Yamanami-san aren't the best candidates for that.

I'm not asking Yamanami-san. [There's no chance in the world Tatsunosuke is going to do that.] Someone broke the latch, and it wasn't me!

Define "giant chicken."
And I have a way with birds, I'll try to track her down, eh?

[There really aren't that many ways to define it, are there?]
Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated, sir. I know gratitude isn't much, but it's all I can offer at the moment. Thank you for even volunteering to try.

Or is that irrelevant because she's the only bird that big around here?
[Yeah... he's weirdly specific about birds.]

Oh, I see. Well, I don't know if she's the only one. But, she's taller than most of the men I know by a good bit. [Which hopefully is enough for height, since Tatsunosuke has no idea what those other birds are.] Oh, and she's yellow. And her beak is pointed.
The others called her--a something. Chokoto? I can't quite remember.
But anyway, I'd be thankful for any help you can offer. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience.

["--a giant chicken look like" is what she's about to say, but she doesn't even finish that thought. Because there it is. A mutant giant chicken.
That thing is kind of creepy.]
...Think I found your pet.

Just a little north of town. Better hurry or it's gonna run.

If it's not too much trouble-- Could you see if you could-- Delay her a little bit? She's-- Mostly harmless, I promise.
