Livejournal apparently infected my (college-owned) computer. This is my last post to LJ and I do not dare read any more either. Bummer.

er? i can't imagine how LJ infected your computer -- i've never seen any reports of LJ hosting malware...

What the others said. If you IT department is telling you this is LJ's fault they are smoking the Crack.

It seems highly unlikely that LiveJournal is a greater risk to you than the rest of the web. The opposite is almost certainly true. So if you're still using the web in general, leaving LJ isn't going to improve your safety.
