there's no such thing as a good poem that the critic doesn't write themself because the writer is the only one that knows the thought process behind it. i mean, there can be words that catching as being attractive.. but it's still not like you know how the words came to the writer.. and that's the entire point of poetry- not the words themselves, ( Read more... )

good thinking

but i do think the words have significant meaning in the poetry.without them, the imagery or what-not wouldnt make the experiences come alive, or seem believeable (?)...

But ultimately, the critic doesn't have any say in what means what to the poet. If the poet thinks one thing about the poem, that's the way he will try to play it off to others. If the critic thinks something about it, the people that follow the critics thought-process on the poem, and the experiences that led up to the poem, are fuckers. What the fuck would they know about the past, being the past of the poet's life.

I'm not sure if that made sense.
