He takes both her hands in his and looks into her eyes. "I'm afraid my flesh is more inspired than my spirit," he admits. "This is not the first time I have been alone with a girl, but it is my first time alone with a lady. I would not want to offend you with my awkwardness."
He looks away modestly. "You're sure of that?" he asks. "I was taught that I should take more care with a lady, and I can't help thinking of you as anything less than a lady," he admits, looking up at her.
