My dog chewed thru the 1/2 " cord to the treadmill.. while it was plugged in. We used electrical tape on the cord (don't know how safe that is...) and keep a spray bottle with water around to squirt her with when she's doing something bad. It just startles her enough to stop doing whatever... however, mixing water+an animal+live wires MAY not be the best idea...

I had to replace a thin power cord to my slide scanner after a kitten had been chewing on it. As I recall, it was expensive - $35 - $50 range.

It resulted in my bundling the cords with cable ties to get them high off the floor beyond a kitten reach.

I had to tape all my wires down to floors/desks with thick duct tape to keep my kittens from chewing on them. Some I bundled together with the tape as well.

Yup. I had to move stuff and crawl around under stuff to get it all done. It was a pain but it saved my wires ... and my kittens! =)

lol I think 50% oh my cords have at least 1 set of kitty teeth marks on them. I just tried to block them from Sophie getting at them...eventually once she got her adult teeth (yes dogs and cats lose baby teeth too) she stopped trying to chew on them. Good luck :)

I recently heard an interesting solution to this problem. Get some liquid soap and rub it on the cords. It will dry and won't hurt anything but when they taste the soap it will break them of the habbit very quickly.

I think my cats actually LIKE the taste of soap....
I discovered little teeth marks in my guest soaps that were shaped like sea shells!
I can't believe Sam Cat would want to sink his teeth into little bars of decorative soap, but there is no other explanation for the teeth marks.
Oh, and by the way....your icon has cracked me up from the very first time I ever saw it!
Flare those nostrils! hee hee hee!

hahaha! and i thought my cats were weird. the boy kitten likes to take a shower with me. no, i'm not kidding. he is fascinated with getting wet. but i can't imagine they would eat soap!

(and i like that icon of yours too by the way... you should make the kitty's nostrils flare!)
