[ History ] :
Misty @ bulbapedia [ Personality ] : Misty is a determined girl, though for one to be a pokémon trainer and not have determination would seem to be a bit of an oxymoron. Misty favours water type pokémon and dreams of becoming a water pokémon master. As the gym leader of Cerulean City she is well on her way to making that dream a reality, especially as the gym also specialises in the water type. Althought Misty prefers water pokémon, her favourite pokémon are those which she deems as cute - such as Tentacool and Tentracruel as "you can just squish them" - and her Horsea, whom is "the cutest pokémon of all!". Despite her love of water pokémon, Misty is frightened of Gyarados due to an incident which happened when she was a child.
Misty is the youngest of four sisters, all of whom believe themselves to be prettier and more talented than Misty is, especially due to Misty's preference of a 'tomboyish' appearance. Misty has always had to live up to them, never having anything of her own and living from their hand me downs. When Misty won the Princess Competition it was the first time that she'd had something of her own - especially something like Princess Dolls. Even though Misty's sisters annoy her with their attitude and vanity, she does care for them and love them dearly as they are her family and when they need her she is there for them.
Although Misty's appearance and preference for dress is rather tomboyish, that isn't to say that Misty doesn't appreciate beauty. Her style is comfortable to her and differentiates her from her sisters, something that she has been fighting to be since she was a child. When the time calls for it - either for a competition or to help someone out, Misty will wear dresses or 'feminise' herself and the transformation is one that leaves her looking so different that it stuns her friends. Though Misty's beauty may not be outwardly apparent on a daily basis, she is beautiful inside and saves her outward beauty for when it is needed.
Misty believes that one of the most important things in the world is love, something that she mocks Ash for not understanding. Misty is a romantic at her core, believing that true love and romance will win in any situation. Despite this, Misty always pulls Brock away from any girl that he meets before she can rebuff him - though his embarrassing actions and falling in love with every girl he meets isn't the same as romance or true love to Misty.
Misty has a fiery temper which was likened to that of a Gyarados in The Fortune Hunters in a fake fortune telling book - something which angered her and nothing, but learning that the book was fake and finding her real pokémon type, could calm her. Misty's temper scares many whom she encounters - particularly Ash - and no one dares cross her or disagree with her once she's mad. She is generally quick to calm after raging or proving her point. Generally, however, Misty is a kind, caring and sweet individual and is only angry when something - or usually someone - has done something to cause her irritation (which is usually Ash). Misty sympathises with people that she meets whom are also younger siblings as she knows what it is like to be one, particularly when you are overshadowed by your sibling.
Misty is also very confident, both in who she is and in her abilities. After struggling to differentiate and break away from her sisters when she was younger, Misty left home in order to search for who she was and to make her dreams come true. By leaving home Misty met Ash and Brock, began travelling with them and training both her own skills and her pokémon. By travelling with them it allowed Misty to explore parts of herself that she wouldn't have been able to do if she were at home; it also allowed her to capture and train new pokémon, particularly those that can only be found in the Johto region. The experience that she has gained from travelling and competing in the Whirl Cup has shown Misty new things, new sides to herself and has made her grow. These experiences are something which she is taking with her, allowing her to use the knowledge in new future situations.
Misty is also a very proud girl. She is proud of both her skills as a gym leader and a water pokémon trainer, telling people that water pokémon as the best due to their flexibilities - they can move like the water, allowing them to adapt to any situation fluidly. Though Misty doesn't win every battle - experience, level and battling style of the other trainers also affect battles as well as type - Misty remains proud of her pokémon as she knows that they have done their best in every battle. If someone laughs about water pokémon, either by saying that another type is better or doesn't believe in their power, Misty is quick to defend them, challenging them to a battle - or encouraging Ash greater if it is his battle. Misty is also caring towards any pokémon despite her feelings on it. She has no tolerance for anyone who mistreats pokémon and works to help both pokémon and trainers that are in need of help - particularly when Team Rocket is around.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] : Misty has no supernatural abilities. Her strengths lie within her compassion towards others, especially her friends and her pokemon. She is a smart girl, well versed in pokemon but particularly in the water type as it is her dream to become the worlds best water pokemon trainer. Due to her love of water pokemon she is a good swimmer and has good fishing skills as many pokemon can only be caught through fishing.
Misty's weaknesses lie within her other personality traits. Misty has an irritable temperment and has once been compared to a Gyarados. She is easy to annoy - usually by Ash, another arrogant trainer, Team Rocket or by her Psyduck. Misty is also afraid of bug pokémon, something which stops her from being able to move or explore through certain areas - until prompted to do so when Ash and Brock leave her.
[ Other Important Facts ] : Misty currently has
this team of pokémon on her.
[ Sample ] : Misty looked around. Confusion had already set in, spreading deeper through her with a growing force. This... this wasn't Cerulean City. In fact, she hadn't been anywhere near Cerulean City before she'd... well... arrived.
"What... where am I?" The water that was dripping from her clothes reminded her of being home - it was hard not to get wet at a water gym, especially with some of her pokémon.
... Her pokémon.
Misty slid her bag from her shoulder, quickly opening it.
Togepi!
"Oh, Togepi. I'm so glad that you're all right." She gave it a smile, lifting it out and letting it sit back in her arms. She'd seen her poké balls at the bottom of her bag whilst taking Togepi out. Everything seemed fine except for where she was.
"Let's find out where we are." Misty spoke quietly, telling both herself and Togepi. "Maybe we'll find someone who can help us." Hopefully whatever had happened - though she couldn't think what that was or even how she'd gotten her - meant that she wasn't too far from Cerulean City. She had to get home.
[ Questions? Comments? Concerns? ] : The Pokémon cast here is so awesome :D
