Of course, there is another justification. If he hadn't obeyed the Master, he wouldn't have had the freedom needed to build and use the EMP generator. Without that, the attack would have failed and the Master would still rule. Surely that must count for something. And in any case, how can they consider his immortality for sentencing, but not for extenuating circumstances? They already said they meant to imprison him permanently. Even a life-sentence would not be like that for a normal person. And in any case, since his crimes occurred during the reversed time, only those in the know could have been involved in his judgment, and they already know he's immortal.

Wonderful story, still can't wait for more. I imagine Jack will have to get over being afraid of them before he can be mad at them. After all, last he knew they were all mad at him, and they turned him over to Unit. Bet he tries to run when they first confront him.

They don't know YET. Presumably Jack will tell them, once they start talking. And no one knows he was the one who did it, but they do know an EMP went off and disabled the Toclaphane, and that that is the only reason the attack worked. They just never found out who was responsible. But once this all comes out, it would be a good justification. I can't wait until they do catch up with Jack. I am also wondering if they will find out about his habit and his current occupation before or after they find him. And will they think he CHOSE the drugs, or will they guess it was UNIT. Even Tosh doesn't know about this interrogation technique.

Yes, indeed, they will find out eventually. I just meant that they couldn't use it in the case they are building for his defence at the moment.

All very good questions, which will be answered. I have written that part of the story (it's the bits between where we are now and the part when they find him that I heven't written yet).

and at least there is only another week to watch before Jack starts to work for the Master. Things should be better for him after that. just ____. HOW DO YOU DO THAT???!!! That thing where you make my insides squirm and squirm and my toes curl and it's a total mix of emotions, from happy that the team is almost there to near-guilt 'cause i know they're not gonna be happy once they find out the truth...

Despite seeing what the Master did they are still very naive about what will happen when Jack works for the Master. Just the existance of another 7 months of tapes should have made them question that assumption. But on the other hand, if a prisoner starts to work for the jailer you would usually expect them to benefit from it. Jack's deal is totally unprecedented.
