Welcome back! Sorry to hear about the peanut butter! It may have been that it wasn't "peanut butter" but "peanut cream." Peanut cream is oily and nasty. I never saw domestically made peanut butter in Japan, but thankfully bigger grocery stores carried imported peanut butter.
Yea, it was from a convenience store and had a picture of a peanut on it--and my aunt had had it before and said it was a peanut butter sandwich, so I just assumed it was just a peanut butter sandwich.
It had shortening and stuff in it, too, if I remember right. It was REALLY oily, like you said, so probably. Reminded me of whipped topping.
I started asking regardless to what it was by the end of the week. "excuse me! this cheese cake on your menu...is there sesame?" lol And I should have been reading labels regardless to what it was, too. I should know better than that.
Woohoo, yay for a good time, minus the icky bit with strange peanut butter. That sounds super rough. :( And man, I bet you just wanted to follow the birds around with a camera and a sketch pad. :)

So far, my weekend has been nice, braving crows at Phoenix Comicon. Still no sign of Genesis Rhapsodos cosplayers, though.

Could have been a lot worse though!
