Hello you all!

This is just a very short notice from the Maintainer team to let you know we have applied a minor change to the community rules to prevent future misunderstandings.

Any filesharing post containing a download link MUST be friends locked.
OGYD allows the following to be shared -OLD RULE

This is probably a stupid question, but may I ask why downloads for PVs (given that they are airing on free, public channels) aren't allowed? oo

They usually aren't on free, public channels though - neither Space Shower TV or M-ON, the usual sources are free.

But more importantly, they're usually included as bonuses on the singles and we have a policy in OGYD of not allowing downloads of official releases. We can't really allow PVs as they are part of official releases.

That does make sense from that perspective and I understand that OGYD wants to protect those rules, but lately I'm worried that PVs have stopped serving their promotional purposes as they're hard to come by for free on tv and places like YouTube. So I wonder whether it's in the artist's best interest to stop spreading a lower quality recording from tv.

And if it dóes manage to end up on YouTube (I hope it does for G's sake) and get posted here, it's still most likely going to be a video that originally aired on a paid channel.

We allow streaming videos to be posted to OGYD. If Avex/GORDIE then decide to delete those streams, then that's their decision and something they're unfortunately entitled to do. If they don't want the PVs to be accessed for free, then there's nothing we can do about it and we should respect their wishes (not matter how stupid we believe them to be). Avex and GORDIE supposedly act in the artist's best interest...

And there's nothing LQ about those videos that get ripped from TV. They're usually better quality than the DVDs are >_<

I think most people know where they can download them from. They don't need OGYD too. OGYD is more of a discussion community than a download one.

Exactly. I don't think not being able to get from OGYD is really going to make a difference... there's plenty of other sources out there!
