Dearest Mam

It has been the greatest & strangest week since I joined the circus!

There is a new act come and join us - a little girl with wings! She looks just like an angel. I wish you & father Pat could come see her. Everyone is excited and sales are better than ever at our christmas shows. I am sending you more money on account of sales being so good, and a gift from Joey and me.

I have also made myself a very dear friend. His name is Freddy and he plays trumpet in the band with me. He is teaching me about all sorts of new music and I am teaching him piano. Please be telling father Pat that I am trying to be a good teacher like him. I do not know how I am doing but Freddy says I am doing quite well. He is a very good student.

The snow has continued all week. Me and Joey have been shoveling lots and lots. This is good because it makes him too tired to be practicing his nife throwing. It has not made me too tired for snowball fights! Joey does not like them but Freddy does. He has very good aim. I have given him my old scarf and he says it keeps him very warm. I asked him if he wanted a color that was not red but he says that if he gets lost in the snow the red will make him easy to find. He can be very funny.

I hope you are having as good a christmas as I am. All of my love.

Your son Davey
