Amber touched Maki IN THE EYE and it was LOVE.

No um. In all honesty she probably knew she'd need his power, seeing the future and all, and so one day just positioned herself in the street so that he'd run into her and WHEN SHE DID she stops him and is all "That's not good, when you bump into someone you should say 'I'm sorry,'" and then they have a talk about how they are CONTRACTORS and don't FEEL blah blah blah but she gives him the omamori eventually. In a kind of, "I want you to hold onto this until you learn to say 'I'm sorry' properly." And he gives her a "How do I learn that?" face and she replies "If you want to know how, you can come with me."

And THEN IT IS CONTRACTOR LOLISHOUTA LOVE.

Simca -- how is she keeping tabs on what's going on with the airtards?

Well she does have Aeon who does a pretty good job of keeping tabs. And AT TIMES WHEN THE TREEHOUSE IS NOT BUSTED she lives there, so that makes it fairly easy. |D But yah, mostly reports from Aeon for anything she doesn't see herself. She also asks Ine for anything she knows as far as tuning is concerned.

As much as she wants aliens/ESPers/time travelers to exist, Haruhi's reasoning and logic tell her they don't. Or however Koizumi explained it in that one episode. Been a while since I watched. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. What I'm asking is, what would it take for Haruhi not to blow off someone's claims as lies, short of seeing it for herself? Would it depend on the kind of being?

Yeaaaaaah, just go ahead and blather about that topic all you like.

WELL it is actually pretty much as Koizumi explains it! Even though Haruhi WANTS these things to exist, her concept of the world is grounded in reality. She wants thre to be crazy things flying every which way but she KNOWS that's not so, deep down inside. It's like. Just the overwhelming logic of the world she was raised in overrides her crazy desires, which is why her aliens/ESPers/time travelers come out looking so normal.

To convince her otherwise you would probably have to. Well. Back home, it'd take a lot, considering Kyon has told her TO HER FACE and she denies it, Koizumi has done his crazy ESPer powers RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER and she thinks it's just part of the movie. So. It would pretty much take someone coming up to her and going. "HI, I AM AN ESPER." and when she says "PROVE IT." they're able to produce something that she can't logic away as special effects.
