So last night I stayed sober, which Sunday always used to be a big drinking night for me but these days I have to be at work sometime between 8-9 on Mondays so I’ve been keeping dry and going to bed early.
It’s good for me to get at least a little bit drunk before bed because 1) I sleep better and 2) it dulls down my dreams.  I have these phenomenal ( Read more... )

I keep getting visions of Hulk Hogan as the bartender. Sorry...apparently everyone's brains are permeated by pop culture. Brother.

I actually don't remember what the bartender looked like very well. He was kinda generic. Maybe a bit like Chris Cooper.
I'm terrible with names, so I tend to call every man I know (assuming I like him enough to address him at all) either brother or baby, and the women sister or darlin'. And, yeah, before you even ask, that sometimes causes trouble and I agree that I'm a terrible person. But, anyway, "brother" is bound to be a common form of address for anything going on in my subconscious, just 'cause it's one of the more common words in my vocabulary. Does Hulk Hogan say it a lot too? I'm kinda out of touch with him.

When I was little my brother was a "hulkomaniac," so that's why I'm familiar with the term. Hulk def calls everyone "brother." But it's not in a nice, "hey man" kinda way. You're nice, so I'm sure you mean it in a "we're all in this life together, so let's get along" kinda way.

When I was younger, I made a real effort to think of all men as my brothers, and all women as my sisters. Now I'm old and crotchety and I don't know how strongly I feel that anymore, but it's a habit now. And I suppose I intend SOME warmth when I say it.
