Christmas in America

Ever Wednesday this month I am doing a special "Christmas in "country" if you happen to be a couple without a lot of cash. I decided to start in my own country and had a bit of fun poking fun at my own culture.

The Menu:

The corn souffle seems to be a midwestern/central thing; the only person I knew who made it back east was my mom, and never on a holiday - it was a dinner main dish when she was feeling blah, lol.
I'll admit to being the one who frequently brings the devilled eggs (tho usually only in the summer).

My favorite Deviled Egg recipe includes topping with shrimp.
The corn Souffle included the need to serve only two on a budget =)
We've never had it at a family function, but there's usually more than two of us at family functions. =) In all reality on Christmas and Thanksgiving when we lived in Phoenix (away from both our families) we ate out. =)

Jhn and I like to cook too much to eat out on holidays (one of the few times we have enough time to really do it up), but my ex and I used to either go out for dinner or a movie on Christmas (frequently both).

I've never tried topping the eggs with shrimp; that sounds pretty good. I like the filling so much I usually save a little bit to make a sandwich out of :)

I love to cook - but I also like to eat in high style for Holidays and with just the two of us, it's kind of a waste of money to do it at home.

We also do the movie thing on Christmas - provided there is something I want to see.

My first time for the corn souffle - the rest of it I've eaten more then once... esp the Mashed Potatoes. The Ham though is something I only eat at Holiday meals.
