It was time to get back to work, Carlisle decided eventually, and Edward didn't complain. The voyage back across the Atlantic was difficult.
Carlisle was smiling the whole time -- it was difficult because Edward was bored, not because he was in pain or struggle. Carlisle could deal with Edward being an adolescent if it meant he wasn't being tormented.
'Where are we moving?' Edward had thought to ask eventually. Carlisle shrugged. 'I thought Ohio; I haven't lived there for awhile; it's quiet enough.'
