HALP

So I've just realised there's only eight days until I go on holiday, whereupon I somehow have about two and a half weeks to while away. This has crept up on me in a haze of work and, in a culture-shocked mopey mood tinged a bit blacker than usual by illness, I'm sitting here wondering what exactly I'm going to do to fill that void and am suddenly ( Read more... )

... man, even I haven't done much of the touristy thing in Seattle. UH. I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN AROUND THAT POINT, but if you've never been to Pike's Place Market, do go! They have all sorts of wonderful things there and it's a very tourist-y area--not in a bad way! But a lot of nice things. Beyond that, there are plenty of museums and there's science center ( ... )

I second the Seattle Underground tour. It was educational and slightly weird!

I'm sure you have more than adequate tour guides for Victoria... as for Vancouver, there's... a lot of naturey sight seeing? You'd want to hit up Stanley park... it's huge and it's got the aquarium in there, as well as a lot of very random things. Totem poles, I think they have a whole native american area there where you could take photos and stuff.

Steveston area down by Richmond is a small touristy mini-town wharf thing. Great for fish and chips and not much else, really. They have whale tours but they're quite costly.

Downtown area is nice to just wander around but it's definitely more of a shopping experience than anything else...

TOO EARLY. Will post more when I think about it.

Depends how much time you have in each place! Victoria is nice for say walking around downtown/near the harbour (you can see our Parliament building!) and there's stuff like Butchart Gardens but that's a little more north and would require driving (or a bus). Downtown is way cheaper (and smaller) than downtown Vancouver. :)

Me, I like observatories and the uni campus. But I'm biased. :p

Vancouver... there's lots, even if you don't want to shop or drive. Stanley Park and that whole area was already mentioned, and we have other parks (Queen Elizabeth) and places like Science World... depends on what you're into, I guess? Downtown makes me think of shopping, eating and Starbucks mostly, but the beach isn't far either.

Shit, son! Comes to Portland! We have a world-class 24 hour doughnut shops and the continent's largest independent book store. That's. That's really all Portland's good for, books and food. And flowers and waterfalls I guess if you're into that. It's a 30$ train trip to and from Seattle, and Excel and I would TACO YOU PROPER. THINK ABOUT ITTTTT.

Oh man, I've never been to Portland but I dream about Powell's. And maple bacon donuts. I second this, go to Portland. xD
