[Anyone watching the journals today will suddenly be treated to a rather nausea-inducing blur of green and blue, accompanied by a yelp as the journal's owner makes an unexpected and undignified descent... out of a tree

[Gilbert hasn't been paying attention to his journal today, or... much of anything, really. He isn't quite certain how to handle the whole Vincent-looks-like-Ada business, which means he's been avoiding it. Entirely. Or as much as possible, at least. So right now he's sitting on the bridge by house 31, watching the river as a forgotten cigarette slowly smolders into ash in his fingers.]
[It was only natural for Jack to go out looking for Gilbert once he discovered that the elder Nightray brother was in fact not at the house. Of course, it took a bit of maneuvering before he could slip out of Vincent's sight - and he suspected the other knew quite well that he had left despite that - and go in search of Gilbert, not really having much of a clue where to begin looking but determined to do so anyway.
As luck has it, he doesn't have to go far at all before he spots a familiar brooding figure holding a... cigarette. Oh, no, that won't do at all.]
I never expected my cute little servant to start smoking when he grew up. That isn't very cute at all.

[Since he wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings the sound of a voice would have been more than enough to startle Gilbert. At the sound of that voice, however, he flinches back, turning away from the railing and dropping his cigarette into the river below without even realizing. That certainly looks like Jack, doesn't it? And sounds like him too. But how...?
And since he has no idea to say, even if he could manage to wring some coherence from his thoughts at the moment, Gilbert just stares, one hand clenching tight to the bridge railing as though he needs its support to stand. Which... he might, right now, since everything seems to have turned upside-down.]
[That look of shock on Gilbert's face draws a soft laugh from Jack as he moves closer to the other man, still amused that little Gilbert is now almost as tall as he is. He stops a few paces away, however, not going to move too close just yet. He'll let Gil adjust to the shock of seeing him alive again first.]
There's no need to make a face like that, Gil-- I'm the one who is supposed to be the ghost here, not you.
