Can you perhaps describe this device in more detail?

[It's simpler to draw it. She does nothing about shading, some angles are off, she only saw it briefly, and she has no schema for a car... but her lines are clean and straight, and the subject's more or less recognizable.]

It moved on its own power and made sounds - a constant sort of growling and sharp trumpeting sounds.

There was nothing pulling it. Even if there had been invisible horses or something, it acted like a ram.

I wonder what this mage had to do to make such a thing live.

These weren't armed and I didn't see them slinging webs. I didn't see heads, either.

But they were still big? Were they bigger than some of the spiders in the outer branches of the Tree? [Cloud's seen some pretty big spiders further away from the residential sections. At a distance, luckily.]

They're gigantic spiders with the heads of men and women. They feed on flesh and human blood.

These didn't. We were lucky.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out if I take another trip down there. Maybe that machine was hunting them?

It could have been. The trumpeting sounds did sound a bit like a horn.
