Is that - smoke?  Birds?

I thought I might have heard something, but I couldn't see anything from where I was--smoke or birds?

There was this noise, and now something's rising up - I think it is birds.

A lot of little ones. They're everywhere.

They weren't birds.

They were something like butterflies. [A pause, and then a badly drawn version of this. Expect highly angular, criss-crossing lines.]

And they weren't very friendly.
