[The broadcast starts with static. Stuttering, crackling static. This is legit static, guys. It's still a transmission of sorts, but nothing useful at all. It might even be irritating if you stare at it too long

[This comes a lot later in the day after the incident caught on the network, presumably after France retrieves his 'Gear and kind of shoves his back together. The far left side of the transmission is still distorted, but France is smiling, although somewhat sheepishly.]

Yes! Everything's well. There was just a bit of an accident.

[The audio cuts out briefly, so France's mouth appears to be moving with no sound. It comes back halfway through his explanation.]

- fun. It's been a while, and I guess Thérèse was especially restless.

[Especially after having two unpleasant surprises from home show up in Johto in quick succession, Heather is more on-edge than ever... which means the static coming through her speakers is FAR from welcome. Not to mention, that muffled voice...]

... Dude, your 'Gear's broke...

[France is still fiddling with his 'Gear. The camera just doesn't seem to want to work properly after that fall, but the voice is better, although a bit static-ridden still.]

I'm working on it! There's something wrong with that [bzzt] Tower. Never had so much trouble with the technology here before.

[She can't help but flinch every time a particularly violent burst of static makes its way through her speakers.]

What... did you DO to it?

[France laughs, a bit sheepishly.]

Bell Tower in Ecruteak. I dropped it five stories out the window while trying to get a signal. The 'Gear was acting really strange while I was in there.

[Well, there's a voice France hasn't heard for a while! He's going to try to video call you, but you're going to get the top half of his face.]

Russia! It's been a while; how are you?

Well enough I suppose. What is wrong with your... your Gear-thing?

[While he's happy you don't seem to be in danger the fact the 'Gear doesn't seem to be working is somewhat off-putting.]

[France sighs dramatically.]

I accidentally dropped it from a substantial height. 'Hadn't had any problems with its reception before until I was in the Bell Tower. It's a surprisingly durable device for all that it does.

[He's praying that he hasn't only just found another of his kind here only to find out that they can be really badly hurt and maybe killed!]

[The responding video looks something like this, which is actually kind of creepy, but France's voice is loud and clear.]
