  • Hey FIFA, fail a little more, I dare you.

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the appeals filed by Schalke 04, Werder Bremen and Barcelona against the decision issued on July 30 2008 by the single judge of Fifa's players' status committee that consequently has been set aside in its entirety," said CAS ( Read more... )

Oh goodness, I'm trying to start getting into women's non-amateur league football and I've already missed the first day of the Olympics. :( Hahaha. Ridiculous.

Holy God Batista terrifies me. Ick.

FIFA has bigger fish in its freezer, whereas in sports like swimming or gymnastics, the Olympics represents the highest level of competition and the one that will garner its athletes the most recognition.
*nod* That is the key argument of those who now want men's football to be taken out of the Olympics all together, and I can see their point.

I'm so, so glad Barcelona have decided to relent over Messi. [Most likely, Guardiola listened to Leo, and then went and glared at Laporta and the technical director until they gave in too. *g*]

Lol China's men's team just drew with New Zealand [my country of birth vs my adopted home]. Ahahahaha. I like the Chinese women's team, but the men are an embarrassment.

There's got to be a better way to keep football in the olympics and have it reflect a more amateur ethos? Getting rid of the overage players would do it, or perhaps further restricting it to players under a certain amount of caps for the NT? I mean. They're paid to think about this shit, not me. :|

Pep for the win, obviously!

I think it was the NYT blog that made the point that the Chinese women's team have the best haircuts. Han Duan's bowlcut/mullet hybrid is sort of amazing.

I think the way things have gone in football lately, with players becoming highly-paid professionals earlier and earlier, is one of the problems they'll have to deal with. I mean, most of the Argie squad play in Europe, and they're all pretty experienced in the top flight. When you have someone like Aguero who's played 5 seasons of professional football before he turns 20, the age restriction becomes kind of meaningless.

Good lord, that haircut is a thing of wonder. Wow. What was she thinking?

Perhaps restricting it to no NT caps then -- but that might also inhibit countries with emerging teams who have to rely on younger players. Hmm. Well.

The best part is, she doesn't pull it back during games either. It's just a free-flowing mane of a bowllet (as I have just christened it, ahahah).
