St Swithun's Day

Jul 15, 2013 18:21

Not sure if the non-Brits are aware of the proverb concerning today, but

"St Swithun's day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St Swithun's day if thou be fair
For forty days 'twill rain nae mare."

I think I may have to invest in a higher factor sun cream...

Not aware, and me and my brown grass aren't even sure we remember what rain is. Sigh. I sure hope there's no truth to this, but according to the forecast, you may be on to something. Sigh ... Again.

I had hopes today. It was foggy when I went outside. It lasted until about eleven, then sunshine again. I have heat rash, it's so hot.

Happily St Swithun's Day brought me air conditioning.

I'm glad someone else is suffering in the heat (that's what I'm reading into your post, sue me :p) A cool breeze, that's all I ask!

No, this one is new to me. Sounds a wee bit like our Groundhog Day on February 2nd, only it's about a longer winter or earlier spring and isn't quite as poetic.

It's already too hot here and the temps for the rest of the week will be in the high 90's to 100F.
