Yeah, The Haunting is pretty much always vindictive. If I was ever hit with it, I either just blew some Willpower and kept playing or stayed out of character for the rest of the night.

Alternatively, if you're a combat character, you can always just attack whoever hit you with it and claim that your Schizophrenia makes you see demons...but that's a dick move. Not less a dick move than hitting someone with the power in the first place, but hey...
