Unsettling insight

I often leave obvious things undone so that I don't have to face not knowing what to do if I were to have finished those things demanding my attention.

(I'm surely not the only one.)

"I've also had about 15+ more years than you to cultivate this practice ;) "

LOL!! OK, I'm officially inspired for this to be remedied ASAP; it doesn't sound like the most awesome thing to practice honing for 15 more years.

But yes, a normal part of leaving something undone is to leave multiple demanding things undone so we can be mindless. Not exactly the best use of our mental energies and time on earth...

I know people do that... but I'm not one of them. =^)

Which might explain the feelings that you've discussed dominating your life!! Those emotions (like feeling impotent) are at least amongst those that my mind intuitively fears if it were to have nothing left that's obvious to "do".

I think, in my case, it's that almost lifelong chronic illness. I've spent so much time in bed, or in a chair, that when I'm able-bodied and able-minded I can always think of things to do.

Plus-- I love to fantasize very actively, with charts, graphs, drawings, and calendars... I set time aside to do THAT, if nothing else. So I don't suppose it's like I'm bragging here. My mental addictions are just of a different ilk! =^P
