Some choices are obvious for good reasons. Odessey and Oracle by The Zombies, Revolver by The Beatles, Forever Changes...they're classic albums for a reason. I love stuff like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Idiot Flesh, Slint, Swans and the like, but my all-time favorite album? Revolver, hands down. It is, as you say, an obvious choice, perhaps even more so than yours. But it's such a solid album. How could I deny it? Pointless hipsterism even to try. So what if it's a typical choice? It's my choice, and one I made because I love that collection of work. I could go on & on about why, but that isn't the point. If we're honest with ourselves we like what we like. Some of it is rational. Some of it is social. But in the end we like what we like. And if that happens to be an obvious choice, so be it ( ... )
