After I wrote it, I was a little leery that adding the Soviet comments might make the story a little too dark and it's actually supposed to be more or less light-hearted fun.
Thank you for the permission. :) Same goes here, in case I haven't said it too.

actually i chose the "secret govt. surveillence" route because people stricken with such poverty that they have to steal from someone else would have made me write such a dark piece the I probably would have depressed everyone and taken away from the lighthearted tone

I'm also interested in how the regular collection of Spidey villains would interact with Colossus - Rhino's almost even with Piotr in strength (and is, by happenstance, also a Russian immigrant)... Electro's attacks might harm those near him... then there's Doc Ock, and the Goblin...
There's just so many places you can go with this...

I'll be posting the second portion of the Prologue which features Kitty's POV as soon as I'm done here and expands more on this little universe.

Loved Kitty's letter! It's almost like you could hear her talking it out aloud as she wrote it down.
Also loved Peter's "I swear to god, Piotr better not mention the words shadow and/or cat tonight" sense of dread as he arrived home, as a counter-perspective to Piotr's intense enthusiasm since making his new acquaintance.
As another way to contrast their differing personalities, you could vice-versa show Piotr's inability to fully empathize with Peter's situation in having to juggle these romantic interests coming at him on several fronts, seeing as Piotr's own interest in this department seems to be a bit more tunnel-visioned.
