Happy Easter, y'all

Apr 08, 2012 13:34

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Easter. We're having brisket later this evening. This is the first time since 2005 that we will be alone for a holiday meal. We have no children so there are no Easter baskets or colorful eggs.

What are some traditional things y'all do/eat on this holiday?

Scary times with my dog )

ffffffffffff, home sweet home, easter, doggies

I grabbed a Cadbury Creme Egg and some Peeps at CVS yesterday - usually I wait 'til they go on sale to get my seasonal fill, but this year I really wanted them *on* Easter. My family was never really into the big ol' honey baked ham that seems to be traditional for most Americans, but we always had Pizza Rustica and/or stuffed breads. There isn't a good Italian market nearby where I live, so I always get a bit sad this time of year because I miss those childhood foods. I'd make them myself, but it's expensive, time consuming, and waaaaay too much food for just two people. Tonight a friend is coming over and we're making fried chicken, mashed potatoes and collared greens and watching some Game of Thrones. When I told my mom she just laughed and laughed and said my boyfriend's family has corrupted me. Based on the food alone, I'm sure you can take a stab at our respective backgrounds :P

Glad to hear the doggie is alright! And Buona Pasqua!

Pizza Rustica and that stuffed bread looks fabulous. Might have to try my hand at those. I love Italian. Also, what you're having tonight sounds wonderful too. It's been a while since I've had collard greens and fried chicken.

We usually don't do honey baked ham on Easter either. (We save that for Christmas. lol) My family is originally from South East Texas so get togethers for any occasion other than Christmas or Thanksgiving have always been something we can slather with BBQ sauce and grilled fresh veggies from the garden. And potato salad - which I can't make taste good to save my life (hello, Wal-mart bakery).

LOL@ bunny splat!

Thank God it turned out ok. I only have pet chameleons and spiders, but I always worry about them.

Just did baking with the nephews and niece and friends kids. Cinnamon rolls made to look like bunny faces. :)
