Why not just say "auf wiedersehen," I think it's a lot easier to spell... the sounds make more sense. *L*

"Auf Wiedersehen" is actually a more formal expression. "Tschüss" is a more informal, used among friends and such. And the reason I used it so much on the test was because he was asking us to write sentences or fill in the blanks - how would two friends greet each other and then part ways, et cetera. Good friends won't say "Auf Wiedersehen", so it makes more sense to say "Guten Abend/Tag/Morgen/etc" or "Tschüss".

Ah, I hate that fill in the blank stuff. On stuff like that I look around to see if they already spelled the word somewhere else on the test. I know Tshuess is informal, I made the mistake of saying it to a German speaking customer once... they just gave me a look and said "auf wiedersehen." It was kind of embarrassing.
