I was rewatching Superman/Batman: Public Enemies for reasons which will hopefully become apparent, and this is the conversation Lex Luthor and Amanda Waller were having in my brain.

It's also pretty much my answer for why they don't team up very well.

I bought that DVD a few weeks ago but haven't have time to watch it yet. Someone actually tried to get Lex Luthor and Amanda Waller to WORK TOGETHER? Even given that Lex had managed to lie and cheat his way into the Oval Office, that still strikes me as about as likely as a teamup between Batman and the Trickster from Flash's Rogues Gallery.

But I could see Lex, secure in his role as President, having the arrogance to order Amanda Waller and her organization around. And The Wall following those orders only as far as she feels she has to, while quietly compiling the info and resurces she'll need to take Luthor down hard and fast.

At least it's better explained than in the comic story they based it on! Man, her portrayal was random in that comic, damn you Loeb. We don't really see Amanda's organizations in the movie, but it is obvious she doesn't trust Luthor very far. Luthor seems to see them as kindred spirits, even before his grip on sanity starts to slip, which I guess if you are a megalomaniac is an easy mistake to make?

Also, if by macros you're referring to those Monte Carlo Doctrine strips... I've looked at them, but I'm pretty sure I don't have the right frame of reference, because most of them just confuse me and leave me thinking "What do those images have to do with the text?" I did like the very first strip, though.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the pictures have nothing to do with the text, but the human mind tries to make connections out of anything it thinks 'should' be connected.

So, when you look at the strip, your mind is trying to connect the pictures with the text, and you can get some pretty interesting combinations. So, the truth becomes what you make of it. The meaning is what you decide it is, rather than what someone tells you it is.

That's my take on it. I like it, actually. The pictures tend to evoke an emotional response when blended with the text, and it is often hard to put into words.

I meant this post, which, yeah, I drew text boxes this time, but I've been thinking of it in the tradition of my merlin thing. I couldn't think of anything else that'd fit in the mood-description box. It was late. And I so wanted to use my new mood icon (isn't it cute?)...

And also, thanks for looking at the mcd strips and telling me what you think! I'm interested in how they fail for people, as much as succeed (They're weird and experimental and my first attempt at something like them, so I made peace with the fact they wouldn't work for lots of people before I started posting them.) droolfangrrl feels they aren't comics properly at all, but rather photo koan collage things, which may be an easier way to think of them? (I try to make the images work with the text, but it is indirect and harder than you'd guess and I make up the rules as I go, so I'm pretty sure they look random to anyone outside my head!)
