Pantry moths: 1; inadequately stored dry goods: 0. Rubbermaid FTW!

I finally tracked down the source of our pantry moths!

Some time ago, it was a sandwich-size zipper-lock bag full of wheat germ and oat bran mixed together. Yesterday, it looked like a katamari ball.

They also got into the sushi rice, TVP, and a bag of jasmine rice. I tossed a few other items in nibbled outer bags for good measure

yes! did you have this issue when you lived in Co? becuase i didn't have in in Ky...but here...everything in the pantry has to be sealed in containers or bags. little buggers....

I've never had pantry moths before anywhere I lived! My mother identified the moths for me before I found the source because she'd seen them when my parents lived in California.

Everything in canisters and bulk spice jugs was fine so we lost much less than I feared. We still have enough oatmeal to constipate a small army. (:

For a paranoid solution, drop a chunk of dry ice in the container, then the flour or what ever, put the lid on loosely, the tightly tomorrow. The CO2 will have filled the container, and will kill everything in it. Or so I heard in a sailing magazine.

I hope you've had fun with the Palm V I ran the battery out on. Waiting patiently for relatives to cycle through to the next new thing just netted me a gently used Palm Tungsten E2. It's awful fancy for my general PDA use as a glorified address book, but this time I've got a reminder taped to my laptop to remind me to put it on the cradle nightly. (:
