I'd never heard of him before Kitchen Confidential came out; now, I drool whenever I catch an episode of A Cook's Tour.
I am so grateful for all my LiveJournal friends that post about food. You really sold me on the Moosewood cookbooks, I no longer even remember who encouraged us to subscribe to Cook's Illustrated, and I got my copy of Kitchen Confidential second-hand from another friend that was scaling back their books before a move.
You should go. Everyone I know that's seen him in person loved it.
I've never been in a Sur La Table, although I know there's a store in the area since they locally sponsor cooking shows on PBS. I rarely miss an episode of America's Test Kitchen. I'd like to go see Christopher Kimball the next time he does a book tour and see if he's as wonderfully geeky in real life as he comes across in Cook's Illustrated and on ATK.

Hey you never said why you un-friended me, did I offend you in some way?

You should go. Sur la Table is wonderful. I've never seen ATK, but I have a Cooks Illustrated book, The Best Recipe. It's good.
