I'm in the Berkshires of Massachusetts right now. Beautiful green hill country. I hiked up a mountain the other day. Then I sunbathed on a beach by the pond. Today I'm going to take the dogs and walk down some gravel roads and look for wild turkeys ( Read more... )

It is my civic duty as a citizen of the great state to Colorado to put scare-quotes around the word "mountain" in this post.

Sure, Monument Mountain is no Pike's Peak. It's also, you know, not nearly as impressive as pretty much any mountain in the Rockies. But Hawthorne and Melville liked to hike on it and while talking about what huge mancrushes they had on each other. And sometimes, sometimes that's enough.

I think I was near campus once since graduation. It was while my sister was still going there and I think I went to pick her up or something. It kind of creeped me out. I'm not sure if I'm ready to go back to Loomis-Chaffee.

Liz is moving to Portland? Awesome. I'll definitely look her up when she gets here.

What kind of internship did you apply for?

I was thinking of going downtown this Friday and trolling for help-wanted signs in the Pearl. Wanna go with me? We could have a five dollar happy hour dinner at Saucebox afterward.

Have you heard of SCRAP? I think Miche volunteers there. They want to start a retail space for crafty stuff made with recycled materials and they're hiring an intern to be in charge of it. Someone responded to my email to say that they'll be calling people in for interviews at the end of the week, so I might get lucky...

I Would love to troll the Pearl with you! Was already thinking of going up to trendy-third and begging all of the clothing stores to hire me. When do you get back from the east coast?

I saw that internship advertised on IRIS. It sounds perfect for you!

I get back to Stumptown late tomorrow night, so I could go any time after that. I'm planning to hit up Countermedia and Floating World to see if I can get a job selling comics/porn, then hit the Pearl and 23rd for help-wanted signs.

P.S. Self-employment counts, so you should totally put "seamstress" or "clothing designer" on your resumé if you haven't already.
