Yeah, Go Ahead Break My Emo Heart

Is it bad that I keep forgetting what year it is? I'm at a point in my life where I'm not counting down years until a specific event. 18...21. Not trying to squeeze in another class to graduate a semester earlier than I hoped. Graduation days are long gone. If anything, I want to rewind. Take years back. Maybe start over. My dear, dear Bruce,
I can relate so much. I'll make an effort to write a post too and then maybe you can find some solace in reading it, as I found in reading yours and thinking that at least I wasn't alone in feeling like this.
Much love,
Sylvain

Dear Sylvain,

I'm glad someone else can relate to these feelings I have been having. Isn't that what makes Livejournal unique from the rest of the blogosphere? A way to share some of these personal feelings in a context that isn't within 140 characters or a status update on Facebook? Everyone seems to hate on my use of Livejournal but I don't feel "safe" anywhere else. My entries would seem so lonely out there on Wordpress or Tumblr. Please, let me know if/when you find the time and motivation to write your own post. I thought I would scare everyone away from these "dark" thoughts. Thank you for not making feel alone or crazy.

Love,
Bruce

Stop smoking. More fully explicated, listen to your data entry drone friend, Brave New World caste Gamma, who has told you twice before you that cigarettes will make you go grey or bald. Trust me, I've tried that and while there is nothing wrong with it, people are a lot meaner to you. plus de méchanceté ( ... )

I'm not sure much changed with my music listening when I hit 30. I think my musical palette has expanded but not in that, "I used to listen to Napalm Death but now Dave Matthews really writes some sweets jams" kinda way. Now I listen to Napalm Death but I really love a good Emmylou Harris record.

My musical tastes have always evolved over the years. From a Janet Jackson and Vanilla Ice CD to buying a Boston vinyl from my next door neighbor at his garage sale. From Boston to Lisa Loeb and Counting Crows. Counting Crows to the punk scene on Long Island. Punk turned to Marilyn Manson. Marilyn Manson turned to emo and hardcore. Etc, etc, etc. I can totally see myself adopting the Sheryl Crows, Lisa Loebs and Counting Crows as my musical beacons. But I don't see myself giving up on my punk edge. Thank you for showing me that life at 30 doesn't have to die with easy listening radio stations.
