I really like this world. Reminds me some of the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews, with the Shift idea. Though in those books, the world swings unpredictably between technology working, and magic working. But tangent. So fascinating, partly because I love vampires, and Steampunk, and I can see this world as somewhat of a pre-cursor to a Steampunk-like world :)
